It’s heartwarming to see smiles on kid’s face’s during the holiday season. Dennis Baker, the 78 year old, retiree volunteer with the Burnaby Lougheed Lions Club is to thank for those smiles. Dennis, although carries out the most of the work, his helpers in the shop as well as Don Selby of the Ridge On Bike Shops are also to be thankful for.
Dennis has been working tirelessly year-round, refurbishing used bicycles and has donated hundreds of them to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau for kids in need. The Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau was originally established in 1930 and today, serves as a centralized, year round toy warehouse for toys to be gathered, sorted, stored and shipped to Christmas Bureaus and Community Agencies, across the entire metro Vancouver area. As the local Christmas Bureau for Vancouver, they distribute toys, clothes and food vouchers to over 1000 low income families in Vancouver during the holidays. To learn more about the great things they do or to donate visit their website at Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau.
